Gynecomastia LiposuctionFor the condition known as gynecomastia, which is an enlargement of breast tissue in males, gynecomastia liposuction is often the only treatment required to reduce the unwanted and embarrassing growth of breasts on the male. If there is a firm glandular mass, excision will be required, but more often than not the use of gynecomastia liposuction is adequate to contour the fat, thus creating an appearance that is much closer to a natural male shape. The gynecomastia surgeon will be able to determine if liposuction alone will reshape the chest tissue or if more invasive surgical techniques will be required. Gynecomastia liposuction is initiated by making a very small incision either at the edge of the aureola or under the arm so that minimal scarring will result. Then, a very thin cannula or hollow tube is inserted under the skin and moved in sweeping motions to break up the fat tissue and suction it out by means of a vacuum pump attached to the cannula. Extreme care must be exercised in order to prevent pockets or dimples in the skin from uneven liposuction. In addition, both sides must be sculpted in such a way that they appear to match in size and location as well as remaining within the boundaries of what is considered a normal male chest appearance. Gynecomastia liposuction, if done correctly, will also leave the remaining tissues at a similar depth all over the chest. The scars from the incisions will be minute and usually almost invisible due to their location at the edge of the aureola. Once the surgical procedure is completed, there will be a few weeks of healing during which compression bandages may be recommended by the surgeon to make sure the skin doesn't move around too much in its new location. Gynecomastia liposuction can also be helpful in moving some of the fatty tissue around under the skin so that there are no hollows or dimples showing. Tumescent liposuction means there is very little blood in the removed fat, so that bleeding, bruising and discoloration post surgery is minimized. This technique is only possible if the patient has excess fat to relocate into the breast reduction area. The goal of the plastic surgeon is to have a smooth and even skin surface that closely approximates natural contours of the male chest. In many instances this can be done solely through the use of gynecomastia liposuction. If liposuction is the only procedure being performed, once the activities are completed, the incision where the cannula was put in place is closed with fine sutures that will be removed at a follow-up visit, or they may dissolve on their own. Probably the most important thing to the male going through liposuction is that the results be adequate to reduce the female visual effects and that the final results provide with a male profile rather than a female profile at the chest and chest surface. Once completed, there may be very little more to do to complete a satisfactory profile.
